Excellent UK delegation at GES in The Hague
After launching our #TechisGREAT campaign during The Next Web, we had a great delegation of 27 UK companies to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in The Hague. Brilliantly organized by the U.S. and Dutch governments, the GES brought together 2,000 world leaders in innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, science and policy from more than 130 countries to promote entrepreneurship and contribute to major global challenges. With talks by Secretary Pompeo, Queen Maxima and leading executives from Philips, DSM and Master Card as well as lightning rounds on the solution stage and an investor’s ‘BBQ’ at the Hague Humanity Hub, the GES had a great and varied program, and really brought the whole Dutch entrepreneurial ecosystem together.
The winner from our pre-event (@Albus Health), was joined by companies in:
and last but certainly not least; @NURONLimited in Water.
Entrepreneurs like these are great at leveraging the UK’s position as a critical hub in the global tech ecosystem. It’s 4th in the world for scaleup investment with a total of £6.3bn of total venture capital investment in 2018, as well as a hotbed for tech talent, employing 5% of all high-growth tech workers globally, placing the UK ahead of Japan, France and India. With a digital sector valued at £130.5bn value added and London being ranked as the second most connected place for tech on the planet, the UK is both a great place to launch your business, as using it is a launchpad to go transatlantic or global. To read a bit more about that, do take a look at Tech Nation’s report or the Ecosystem Ranking by StartupGenome.
