Amsterdam, 9-10 May 2019

On 9 and 10 May the Department for International Trade (DIT) in The Netherlands is leading a mission to one of the leading tech conferences in Europe; The Next Web (TNW) in Amsterdam. At TNW, we’re going to showcase inspiring British examples of our leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The UK is exemplary when it comes to digital innovation.

Technology businesses are at the heart of the UK economy and are playing an important role in driving growth across the country, from financial services and high-value manufacturing to retail and agriculture. Our nation’s openness to international collaboration, and strengths across all industry subsectors, makes partnering with the UK a perfect investment opportunity.

The UK offers an outstanding environment for global technology companies. We have, a strong start-up culture bolstered by technology clusters all over the UK, a ranking of fifth best place in the world in the Global Innovation Index in 2016 and 4 of the world’s top 10 universities, plus educational providers that develop our technology workforce.

As well as providing a world-class creative ecosystem, the UK is also a great place to invest, with a flexible intellectual property system, a transparent and pro- business environment and a number of tax incentives.

CITIES OF THE FUTURE

At TNW, we’re thinking about the future of technology. We want to explore how tech can help solve challenges on sustainability, security and mobility, much of which start local at the city level. Our mission will showcase policy approaches and solutions, both at our pavilion and the innovation workshop. If you’re not engaged yet, the Ecosystem builders and Future Generations tracks will be sure to inspire you.

FINTECH

Since Bitcoin’s boom in 2017, the cryptocurrency industry has had its ups and downs (literally). Yet blockchain technology still has the potential to improve our lives. Perhaps you’ll help us find a solution for the Northern Ireland border issue? At TNW, experts share their strategies and predictions for mass adoption in the face of uncertainty.

AI & MACHINE LEARNING

Both the UK Government and TNW have identified artificial intelligence as having the potential to radically change the way we work, live, and play. Showcase your innovation at our pavilion, engage with key influencers at our VVIP lunch and get inspired by some of the world’s greatest thought leaders in AI.

CREATIVE TECH

The Creative Sector in Amsterdam is booming, and technology is increasingly becoming a core medium of expression. TNW has made ‘the art of tech’ a key conference track. Come and listen to the biggest names in the creative sector, close partnerships and be in front of the wave.
